About my research process
I use a Design Thinking methodology, as the Interaction Design Foundation defines as "Design thinking is a non-linear, iterative process that teams use to understand users, challenge assumptions, redefine problems and create innovative solutions to prototype and test. Involving five phases—Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test—it is most useful to tackle problems that are ill-defined or unknown".
Cybele Wu is a Product Researcher and Designer who aims to work in the healthcare industry, creating experiences for caregivers and the elderly population so that they can age in place with peace of mind, using accessible and inclusive design and research.
Cybele knows the importance of accessibility through 9 years of working as a family caregiver with a family member with mobility and cognitive dysfunction. It was through her experience as an educator, researcher, and caregiver, that she began to explore the areas of accessibility and inclusion.
Cybele has worked as an English language instructor for over 20 years and understands what it means to distill learning experiences in clear, engaging ways. She also wrote her dissertation on Utilization Efficacy Perceptions of Telepractice with Speech Language Pathologists, using the Delphi method. Her educational experience, as well as her experience as a caregiver utilized both collaboration and empathy to create meaningful experiences for those that she comes across.
Cybele holds an Ed.D in Instructional Technology in Distance Education from Nova Southeastern University, a M.E. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, from Regent University, a M.A. in International Commerce and Policy from George Mason University, and a B.S. in Home Economics, concentrating on Fashion Merchandising.
Besides design and research, she enjoys travel, cooking, training her border collie dogs, and is an avid learner of the circus art of aerial silks.
